Kay Kay Badminton After 3rd Class

Date:  Apr 5, 2015

It is amazing to watch the Kay Kay grew up so fast.

Especially with the help of his brother Jay Jay.  He has grown to a fine young boy.

He knows what he wants.

He wants to learn badminton.

And he gets his chance to join the badminton class.

DSC00395

He seems to love to play badminton.

A passion that is much more than his brother has.

DSC00358

This is how it looks after the 3rd class at Singapore badminton school @ Clementi.  3 weeks ago, he does not even touch badminton racquet.

I think he is doing well.

And this is his friend in the badminton class.  An Indian boy who has taken the lesson for almost 2 terms.  And he is very good.  So, Kay Kay says he wants to be as good as him.

DSC00413

2 days before.  Uncle Rusdi takes the time to train him.

And he increases his ball sense.

IMG 0301

He is trained to hit the ball to the target area during that training.

IMG 0310

1-Day ago.  He asked me to bring him down to train his serving.

And he can finally serve the ball over the net.

IMG 0325

And the more I played with him, the more I enjoyed learning that his skill has grown up day by day.

IMG 0333

One day, he will be like his brother like that.   Good in sport.

That is why we started to expose him to all kind of sports.

Kays First Students Recital Performance

Date:  March 22, 2015

This is my younger son, Kay Kay.

Today, he is going to go up stage to perform what he has learned from the Piano class.

IMG 9847

Yup, it is his first “100 Stages Students’ Recital” performance.

I think he started to learn Piano from Cristofori since end of 2014.

It is hard work for parents as we need to pick him up and sent him to class.  So, on Wednesday, he always comes home late at 7:30pm because of the 30 minutes piano class.

DSC00143

Influenced by his brother, Jay Jay.  He started to like Piano.  One day, he come back from school and tell mommy he wanted to learn piano.

That is how he got into this piano.

Take note, still, Mommy and Daddy has not played piano before when we were young.  And I don’t think we have much musical instinct in our cells.

So, the kids have to learn on their own, and pick up piano from the class on their own.

Today will be the Recital performance.  So, he has been practising hard at home.

IMG 9793

He actually can perform without the music CD.  Let’s take a look.  This is 10 minutes before the performance.

Very playful.

Because Jay Jay has to go to the Golf School later for Monthly competition.  So, the school have arranged him to be the first one to performance.  No pressure at all.

DSC00169

Since this is his very first performance the teacher insists he follows the music CD.  Teacher says he always practice in school using the CD.  I told the teacher, but he practice at home without the CD.  But then, it was decided to let him follow the CD.

He is pretty serious when he performs.  Don’t you think?  HaHaHaHa… I seldom see that kind of serous face.

And he got a certificate from his teacher Jay.  Yeap, the teacher is the same name as Jay Jay.  That is why he is willing to learn from teacher Jay.  Because of this same name.  HaHaHaHa...

Well done Kay Kay!

IMG 9825

So shy.  Receiving his certificate from teacher Jay.

All the students who performed yesterday.

IMG 9832

OK.  What a relief.  Drink lots of water.  Eat the sushi.  Well done Kay Kay!

Copy The Diary

Date:  Apr 1, 2015

It’s going to be tough.

But let’s try it and see how it goes.

Every week, we want Jay to copy and write some Chinese some diary articles.

IMG 0215

The good thing about this is to practice and practice writing Chinese.

All these are short writings but all the words are common words.

This is a bit like sight words.

So, in our opinion, the more you write the more you familiar, the more you will write spontaneously.

IMG 0216

In his last Assessment test, Jay complaint he has no time to do the comprehension in Chinese.  And part of the reason is he writes too slow.

This is a book I bought from Taobao.

IMG 0315

This is another book.  The important thing is to let them get used to ??

IMG 0316

A sample of what he is copying.

IMG 0314

Do it everyday. And hopefully he will benefits from it.  He will not understand why.  But soon, and in Secondary school, he shall know.

Gadget Notes 4K Ultra HD Action Camera from China

Date:  Dec 27, 2015

I got a new gadget.

My friend Mike bought this for me from Shenzhen.  It cost about RMB$400.  This is about SGD$86.

It is a “GoPro” look alike camera.  HaHaHa… But 15%-20% of a GoPro price.

IMG 7680

The box.  It’s 4K.  It is also Ultra HD.  It is Wi-Fi.  It is waterproof of 30M.  It has 2-inch Screen.  And it is an Action Camera.

IMG 7670

It also have a Super Wide Angle Lens.  170 degree.

But the battery is only 1050mAh.  I think it is a bit small.  50 mins to 1.5 hour, that’s it.

IMG 7673

Unboxing.

IMG 7675

The waterproof casing has 4 buttons.  Seems pretty secure.

IMG 7682

The screen is quite decent.  Not so intuitive UI.  But after you get the hang of it, it is not so bad.

IMG 7685

Looks very sleek.  The ON-OFF button is at the front.  The shutter button is on top.

IMG 7687

The right side is the up and down button.  The down button is also act as the quick switch for Wifi.

IMG 7689

The left side has the HDMI port, the USB port as well as the micro SD card slow.

IMG 7688 1

The bottom battery compartment is not so nice design.  It has no connecting hook.  So, don’t lose it.  And the latch is not so firm.

This is the Made in China battery.

IMG 7690

The manual is in English, and it is very impressive.

IMG 7676

It is quite well written.

IMG 7677

You will be more impressive with the mounting kit they gave you.

IMG 7674

That’s is really impressive.

IMG 7692

Yup, here are all the contents of the kit.

IMG 7679

There is both iPhone App and Android App to download.

IMG 7678

The Ez iCam is quite easy to use too.  And after you connect to it, basically, you can use it to control your 4K Action Cam.  (SPCA6330/6350 based).

Screen Shot 2015 12 27 at 7 38 07 PM

The down button is to connect the Wifi.

IMG 7699

Yup, you can control almost all the items in here.

IMG 7700

you can view the files.  And of course, you can download them to your iMac, or your iPhone.

IMG 7704

The download takes a long time.

IMG 7705

OK, now, let’s put this into test.  I went to East Coast Park and mount it on my bike.  And see how the video performance.  To me, it is pretty decent.

IMG 8069

I never had a GoPro yet, so, I cannot say how it compare to GoPro.  But except for some time the stabilising function not there, most of the time it is good.  I need to set the exposure too as it was too bright the background some time.  Need to learn how to set that.

Otherwise, it is a pretty decent cheap 4K camera.

It looks pretty decent!  Definitely 4K quality.  The following clips are uploaded to youtube.  You got to have good Internet as Youtube is adaptive technology to play video.

Another video clip.  As you can see the sea is too bright, so, we lost details on the sea.  But I am sure there are some exposure setting we can use.

When the environment is darker, you can feel that the video quality has a lot of noise.

I still think it is pretty decent.  But under the bright day light it is very hard to see the LCD screen.  So it will be impossible for me to adjust the exposure.

I placed the camera pointing upwards.  Wow, look at the details of me drinking the soup.

Overall, if you don’t want to spent the big bucks to buy Go Pro, may be can buy this from China and use it first.  Wait until you really need that kind of power, then, you buy GoPro.

By the way, we went cycling again.

IMG 8072

I think Kay Kay really love cycling.

IMG 8076

We cycle to Marina Barrage, East Coast Park, Garden by the bay and MBS today.

IMG 8089

It is a nice feeling to cycle at MBS.

PC270455

And today, both Jay and Kay broke their record and cycle about 25.39KM using 2 hours and 38 minutes.  Well done boys.

IMG 9399

This is the last year Kay Kay going to LWPS (Lorna Whiston Pre-School).  Next year, he will join his brother Jay Jay in Pei Tong Primary School.

Both me and my wife came from Malaysia.  Our parents are not staying with us.  Therefore, we make a choice to sent both Jay Jay and Kay Kay to Lorna Whiston Pre-School as young as 18 months old.  Practically, half of the time, the two boys were brought up by Lorna Whiston Pre-School.

Seeing both of them grew up is a fun journey for us.

Today, finally, Mr. Kay Kay has gone thru his last yearly concert.   Yeap!  His Pre-School Graduation Concert.

The teachers in Lorna Whiston has taught him well.  Kay Kay is very very happy when he received his report card where he scored all “3” except but one “2” in a Chinese Pinyin category.  So, he asked Wei Lao-Shi why?  Wei Lao-Shi explained the school only teach to the mid-level, they have not teach that subject yet, that is why have to give a “2”.  hahahaha And he satisfy.

He has become a kid that is 180 percent way different from Jay Jay.  He has his own character, and he has his own thinking.

But overall, we are glad of what he has become today.  Thank you all teachers in Lorna Whiston Pre-School for bringing up our Kay Kay.

IMG 3583

Let’s look back how Kay Kay gone thru his pre-school years concerts.

Mar 1, 2011 is the first day he wore this Lorna Whiston Uniform.

Kay Kay received his certificates from Ms. Lorna Whiston.  The person who setup this pre-school.

20151106 0098

We help him write a very short speech.  Not so short.  But short and sweet.

20151106 0100

This is the transcript of his lovely speech.

Screen Shot 2015 11 08 at 7 10 30 AM

This is what Ms. Lorna Whiston wish to see in every kid.  Be able to stand in front of the audience and speak confidently.  Although can see a bit of fear, but I think he is just OK.

Let’s see what the kids present this year.  Around the World.

IMG 2801

Every parents is anxious to see what their kid is performing.

IMG 2919 1

This is a performance that surprise the parents.  We didn’t know there are this performance, because they did not bring back the Africa Costumes.  And they keep on saying “it’s a secret”.  And now we see the secret African dance.

20151106 0235

The secret African Dance.  Every one wear the African natives costumes.

This year, there are a lot of songs and dance, and it is very well done!  We love this.  We also love the soccer game with pom pom girls, we love the San Zhi Jing, we love the Kangaroo, etc etc.  Very well done year-end concert.  And every one has put in a lot of efforts and all their efforts turn into good comments.

Here comes the nerd.

20151106 0313

And they are going to perform the SG50 song.

20151106 0332
