SG50 National Day Observance

Today is Singapore’s 50th National Day!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Early morning, we are heading to the National Day Observance event @ Teban Garden.  

We tried to ballot for the NDP, but we did not get it.  We got it in 2013.  I guess there are too many people balloting for it.

We are are on red top today.

Some friends ask me, “I thought you are Malaysian?"

Well, my wife has converted to be Singaporean for our children sake.

And both my sons are Singaporeans already.

One of the thing that I teach my son is “You have to love your country."

That is why as a father, I will have to go all the way to support the Singapore national day events, and make my sons to be as patriotic as possible.

After all, they are Singaporeans.

No point to teach them politics.  Just ask them to be a good Singaporean who love their countries.

When national day comes, there is no line drawn.  No PAP, no ??? (oppositions).  All is about loving your countries.

This is what they have to know today.

When they grew up, and when they become older, and they can think, then, they will think for themselves and they will make their own observations, and make own judgement which side they want to choose.

Quite cool they decorate their HDB like this.  At Teban Garden.

So many Singapore flags.  Must be here la.

A lot of people are here already.  The band is from Commonwealth Secondary School.

We don’t know what is National Day Observance.  

Oh…. oh….

It is a small parade.

There are uniform cadets marching, etc.

More and more people arriving.

Here come the guest of honour, Ms. Foo.  The MP.

Oops… She spotted both Jay & Kay.

Then, she put here hands on Jay’s shoulder, and ask her guys, “Let’s take a photo here!"

Too much publicity.  Don’t like. hahaha

They are broadcasting the Mr. Lee Kuan Yews proclamation in 1965 live across the whole Singapore at 9am.

Hardy Boys

Wow… that was how many years ago that I last heard of Hardy Boys.  

Hardy boys and Nancy Drew story books were the reading books of our time.  And these characters were created back in 1920’s.

I don’t recall that I saw any of these books in Singapore book stores.

I actually bought a few online books then, order the hard copy from Amazon.

The Hardy Boys Secret Files.  Was created in 2010.  

It tells the story of Hardy Boys, Frank Hardy & Joe Hardy when they are very young.  

And I think this is very suitable for the kids.

I have been reading the Hardy Boys to my boys and they love it.

Let me tell you why I like the books.

I have two boys.

It is a story about two boys.

Similar age or younger than my two boys.

And these two boys solve mysteries.

The wording is big.

And it does not have those “colourful” zigzag words such as Geronimo Stilton (which I don’t really like).

The English is correct for their grade.

I have read two books for the kids.

And we have solved two mysteries.

And the method of solving mysteries is simple.

You got to ask the six W’s.

What?

When?

Who?

Where?

Why?

How?

When they solve the mysteries, they will go to their three house to brain storm.

They will write on the board or a piece of paper...

of the six W’s.

You got to ask these questions, in order to find out the truth.

You got to ask these questions, in order to write what you wish to write.

So, it helps in compo too.

Only when you answers all the six W’s then, you can get your answers.

So, at night, I will read to them the story.

And I also buy a few hard copies for Jay to bring to school to read it.

Often, we will discuss on the cases, and hopefully my boys will have a logical mind after reading these books.

So, when they grew up, hopefully they will continue to read Hardy Boys to solve the murder, and bigger case. 

Gadget Foldable Keyboard

I bought this from Taobao.

It is not that light.  But it is small.  It is not so cheap too.  You know, you always expect to buy much much cheaper stuff from Taobao.  But this piece of gadget cost around S$30+.

Unfold it.  It is a keyboard.  It is very neat.

 

And you have a full size keyboard.  It comes with a cover too where you can place your IOS devices on it.

And, it is bluetooth.

And it is FULL SIZE.  You know I had my Logitec now, the arrow keys are small keys.  But look at the arrow keys on this keyboard, it is a full size.  Easier to press.

I like.
